Frances Appelin Obituary

Frances Mariman Appelin
June 22, 1925, ~ October 20th, 2025

Frances Mariman Appelin, 100, of Sierra Vista, passed away on October 20th, 202 with those she loved by her side.

Frances, better known to her family and friends as Frankie was born on June 22, 1925, to Joseph and Buelah (Wills) Eicks in Hachita, New Mexico.

Frances moved to Arizona when she was 10 years old. She attended Douglas high school until her father took her and her sisters out of school to work at the Douglas AirForce base during the war.

On July 27th, 1946, she married John Appelin in Douglas. To this union, they had two children, Charles Appelin and Betty Demer.

She was a member of the Sierra Lutheran Church and attended faithfully every Sunday. Frances had a standing date every Wednesday with her friends from church at Culvers for lunch and a monthly luncheon with the widows group.

Frances adored hummingbirds, that was one of the beautiful things about living in Sierra Vista that she enjoyed the most.

Frances is survived by her children, Betty Demer of Sierra Vista and Charles and (Tammy) Appelin of Hereford; grandchildren Lisa (David) Dion, Paula and (Billy) Brown); Kristie Alston; 14 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband John of 33 years; her parents, Joseph and Buelah Eicks; siblings Leslie Jack, Jimmy, Leona and Tiny; and her beloved grandson John Appelin.
