Evelyn “Baby” Buan Torres, 52, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital on the 16th of March 2024 due to a massive stroke. Evelyn was born in Sta. Maria, Bulacan, Philippines on the 30th of September 1971 to Eloy and Adelaida Torres. She was one of seven children: Isabelita, Emerita, Alfredo, Lourdes, her twin brother Elmer, and Eugene. In 1995, Evelyn met Edward Prieto in Balubaran, Philippines. Evelyn and Edward had three children: Eiciel, Ezekiel, and Ericsson.
Evelyn and her three children moved to America in 2010 and resided in Sierra Vista, AZ, where she raised her kids as a single mother. Evelyn was a loving and dedicated mama, sister, aunt, and friend. She was caring and generous, putting her three children before herself. Evelyn made their house a home filled with love, laughter, faith, and beautiful memories. She was fond of their two pets, Mochi and Bonney. Evelyn was also a hardworking woman, and she found enjoyment in working at Caffe O Le, where she was a server for almost 14 years.
Despite being far away, Evelyn never forgot her family in her hometown. Fondly called "Baba" by her nieces and nephews in the Philippines, she cared constantly and dearly for the well-being of her mother and relatives.
The simplest things in life brought joy to Evelyn. She enjoyed her evenings cooking meals for her family and friends while talking and spending time with each other. Evelyn was a beautiful and kind-hearted woman who spread love, laughter, and joy wherever she went. Heaven’s gain was our loss when Evelyn was called by our Lord. She will be greatly missed and will always hold a place in our hearts.
Evelyn’s memorial service will be held at Hatfield Funeral Home, 830 AZ-92, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635, on Thursday, March 21, 2024, and Friday, March 22, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
A Recitation of the Rosary will also be held at St. Andrew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church (Taylor Drive) at 10:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 23, 2024.
