Elda Montano Obituary

Elda G. Montaño October 24, 1935 – June 7, 2026
Elda G. Montaño passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, at the age of 90. She lived a life filled with love, devotion to family, friendship, and a passion for sports and community.
Elda married the love of her life, Humberto T. Montaño, on August 11, 1956. Their marriage lasted 56 wonderful years until his passing, but their love story began much earlier. Childhood sweethearts, Elda and Humbert first met when they were just 12 years old, creating a bond that would last a lifetime.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Humberto T. Montaño, and her cherished grandson, Enrique Ricardo "Ricky" Leon.
Elda is survived by her three children: Elda Chapman (Kirby), Humberto "Pete" Montaño, and Joseph Daniel Montaño. She leaves behind six loving grandchildren: Lisa Marie Carrasco, Moriah Elizabeth Montaño, Devon Alexandra Porter (Rick), Joseph Montaño, Christopher Montaño, and Laura Montaño.
She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy: Daniel Humberto Salomon, Jaxon Riley Halweg, Keira Belle Halweg, and Theo Mason Halweg, Chloe Montaño, and Claire Montaño.
Elda was an accomplished athlete and competitor throughout her life. An avid golfer, she won numerous awards and championships. She also enjoyed bowling and tennis, embracing every opportunity to stay active and challenge herself. Beyond her athletic achievements, Elda was a trailblazer in her community, becoming the first Mexican woman invited to join the Douglas Women's Bridge Club, a distinction she carried with pride and grace.
More than any accomplishment, Elda will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her strength, her kindness, and the example she set for generations to follow. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and the countless lives she touched throughout her remarkable life.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
"Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day."
