Eileen Marjorie Sywassink
December 30, 1931 ~ April 13, 2026
Longtime resident Eileen Sywassink, 94, passed away peacefully in Sierra Vista. Born in Hancock, Michigan, Eileen followed in her parents' footsteps to become a school teacher. She had degrees in education from Western Michigan University and the University of Michigan, preparing her for a career as an elementary school teacher in Michigan and Arizona. The family moved to Arizona in 1963 to live in Douglas and moved to Sierra Vista in 1964. Most of her teaching career was at Carmichael Elementary School.
Eileen was a devoted member of her community and faith. She was a charter member of the Sierra Vista United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and church historian. She also belonged to a number of organizations, including the Lions Club and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Eileen is survived by her husband, Donald; her children: Jon (Larry Seubert), Debbie Hruschka, and Mark (Diane); and granddaughter Denise Hruschka. Many thanks to all of her caregivers in her final years.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 19, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in the Activity Room at Mountain View Gardens Retirement Living, 3477 Rodeo Drive in Sierra Vista.
