Donna Mary Smoot Lines
July 1, 1933 – September 19, 2025
Donna Mary Smoot Lines was born on July 1, 1933, in Honolulu, Hawaii. As a child, she witnessed the historic and tragic bombing of Pearl Harbor, an experience that shaped her early life. After graduating from high school, her family moved to Seattle, Washington, where she met and married the love of her life, Joseph Elmer Lines.
Because of Joseph’s distinguished military career, Donna embraced the adventure of living around the world, making homes in Alaska, Ethiopia, Georgia, Washington, and Arizona. While in Arizona, she worked at Fort Huachuca with the Defense Finance and Accounting Service, where her dedication and determination uncovered and recovered four million dollars in delinquent travel expenses—an accomplishment emblematic of her sharp mind and tireless work ethic.
Donna’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her four beloved daughters—Jeanne Marie Raffety, Kim Margot Afinowich, Robin Marlene Charles, and Cindy Lines Moss—along with six cherished grandchildren and five treasured great-grandchildren. Her legacy of love, resilience, and service will live on in the lives she touched.
Donna will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, unwavering devotion to her family, and remarkable sense of duty. She leaves behind a life story that inspires all who knew her.
