Donald Diehl Obituary

Donald "Don "Samuel Diehl , 77 of Port Orchard Washington died on Monday, July 20th, 2020. Don was born on December 2, 1942 in Lakewood, Indiana to Agnes Claire and Garwyn Diehl. He was raised in San Jose, California and enlisted in the United States Navy in April of 1964. Donald rose to the rank of Chief Petty Officer before retiring after 20 years of service in April of 1984. He married Lois L. Clark in 1971 and together they had two daughters Rebecca Lynn and Kristi Sue. 


Don worked for military contractors on Ft. Huachuca after his retirement. There he built many relationships with co-workers who became friends. He enjoyed bowling and throughout his life could be found at the lanes on any given night. Don also volunteered and coached for the youth bowling league that his daughter Kristi was a part of. In 2010 he moved with Kristi and her family to Washington State. Having been stationed on Oak Harbor, Washington in the Navy he enjoyed being back there. He was able to see some the ships he served aboard such as the USS Kitty Hawk and the USS Independence. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren who will forever call him Pop Pop. 


Donald was predeceased by his parents, his wife Lois, his sisters Barbara and Marian and his grandson Brett. He is survived by his daughters Rebecca (Robert) Kelly of Apache Junction, Az and Kristi (Vance) Blasdell of Silverdale, Washington. His sister Gloria Johnson of California and brother Robert Rippel of Texas. His nephew John Diehl who he was particularly close to along with numerous neices and nephews. His brother in-law Raymond (Renee) Clark of San Antonio, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren Tyler (Alicia) Lamey, Shane (Tyanna) Diehl, Cody Blasdell, Allen Lamey, Suzanna Lamey, Shyanne Blasdell and Jayden Kelly. In addition to his great granchildren Jacobi, Liam, Arabella,Serenity,Roran and Qetsiyah. 


A private family service and burial were held on Wednesday, July 29th, 2020. Don was reunited with his wife Lois, and his in-laws Charles and Hazel Clark with whom he was close to along with his grandson Brett at Cochise Memory Gardens in Sierra Vista. 


His loss is hard for our hearts to bear but the love he had for his family will live on forever. I love you Dad! Always, Kristi
