Diane Quast Obituary

Diane M. Quast

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Diane M. Quast, who departed this life for eternal life in heaven on October 1, 2025.

Diane was born in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania to Anna (Klenovich) and Frank Momich. Her mother died shortly after her birth and her father died a short time later form Tuberculosis. She grew up in foster homes until age 16. God then brought Diane a miracle through her friend Carolyn. Carolyn told her parents, Leonard and Vanny Hites, that Diane was being mistreated and in a short time Diane was living with a forever family. The Hites encouraged her to take the Civil Service Exam after graduating from high school and that was the start of Diane’s career working for the Department of Defense. Her career took her from Washington D.C. to Vint Hill farms Virginia, to Germany and to Fort Huachuca Arizona. She retired with over 31 years of government service and many letters of commendation.

Diane touched the lives of many with warmth, kindness, and generosity throughout her life. She was cherished as a devoted wife, mother, grandma/nana, and friend. Children had a special place in her heart. She cared for every child that she encountered. Whether at church or a restaurant she would take the time to stop and tell a parent their child was amazing or beautiful or something special. She took time to recognize the child and encourage the parents with her unwavering love and commitment to family.  Being a wife, mom, and grandma/nana were Diane’s greatest joys.

Diane loved gardening and grew vegetables which were often abundant and given to neighbors. Diane served God through her church in many capacities. Sending cards of encouragement to young adults attending college, making ham salad for fellowship snacks, decorating church windows with flowers, attending Ladie’s Guild meetings, and cooking meals for special functions.  Diane loved serving God by helping others. This included her husband who she encouraged, cared for and loved for the past 29 years. They had a 3-year honeymoon in Germany as Steve was in the US Army. Their last assignment was to Fort Huachuca Arizona where they settled with a love for the mountains and climate.

Diane is survived by her husband Steven D. Quast, her daughter Debra Krebs (Todd) and their children Brendan, Jennifer, Jessica, Matthew, and Catherine and great granddaughter Olivia; her youngest daughter Angie Fischi (Warren) and their children Vinnie, Frannie, Rocco and Lucia; foster sister Carolyn Daniels, sister-in-law Barbara Penstone (Steve), mother-in-law Hazel Quast; Steve’s son Robert Quast (Tasha) and their children Jessica (Lyal Jr. Howell), Logan, Michael and great grandchildren Greysen Howell and Everly Howell; daughter Alishea Andersen (James) and their children Josalyn and Thomas. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, brother and 3 sisters.
