Deane R. Cartwright was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Dr. Forrest P. and Eleanor E. (Young) Cartwright. He lived in Grand Junction, Iowa, until his father was called into service during WWII. The family traveled to several states during this time and eventually settled in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They later moved to Denver, Colorado then Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Deane attended Colorado A & M now known as (Colorado State University, where he met his future wife Maria T. Sharp. They married June 12, 1960, in Denver, Colorado and shortly thereafter, relocated to Bisbee, Arizona. At that time, Deane was drafted into the Army and was stationed at Ft. Huachuca. While at Ft. Huachuca Deane served as a mailman on the military base. After being honorably discharged two years later. Deane and his wife owned/operated several businesses in Bisbee. Those businesses were, Roadside Dairy (Carnation Milk), Cartwright Insurance Agency, Bisbee Blueprint and Nest Egg Storage. Deane and Maria T. retired in 2007 and began a new chapter in their life. 

His wife, Maria Theresa Cartwright, preceded him in death on May 15, 2018, and continues to be missed daily.  Deane is survived by his daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 21, 2025, at 2:00pm at the Bisbee Church of the Nazarene, 1145 W. Hwy 92, Bisbee Arizona. Immediately following the service there will be a short grave side service at the Evergreen Cemetery in Lowell. A reception and celebration of life gathering will be held at Pizzarama (beginning approximately 4:00PM), located at 1101 S. Naco Hwy, #121, Bisbee, Arizona. Everyone that knows Deane and / or his family are cordially invited to attend. 

In the Lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in his memory to the Bisbee Church of the Nazarene or a favorite charity of choice.
