Dean Rottweiler Obituary

Dean Laverl Rottweiler, age 83, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 27, 2025, after a life marked by love, service, and unwavering devotion.  Born on April 29, 1942, in Menan, Idaho to Paul and Edna Rottweiler, Dean was raised in Roberts, Idaho, and graduated from Roberts High School.

In April 1962 Dean earned the rank of Eagle Scout – an achievement made more meaningful as he received it alongside his father.  This early example of dedication and perseverance would characterize the rest of his life.

Following high school Dean served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Germany, an experience that profoundly shaped his testimony and lifelong commitment to the gospel.  After returning home, he met the love of his life, Marlene Dee Laird.  They were sealed for time and all eternity on June 18, 1965, in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple.  Just this month Dean and Marlene celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary surrounded by family-a joyous milestone that reflected their enduring love and partnership.

Dean’s career as a salesman took the family to several communities across the Western United States, including Idaho Falls, Boise, and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, as well as, Riverton, Wyoming, where he and Marlene raised their family.  In retirement, they moved to Sierra Vista, Arizona, to be closer to family.

Dean is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Edna Rottweiler, his brother Dale Rottweiler and sister Julie (Dewey) Green.  He is survived by his siblings: Wayne (Glenda) Rottweiler, Karol (Ben) Poston, and Karen (Dee) Simmons.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Marlene, and their three sons: J.D. (Melanie) Rottweiler, Curtis (Brian Goodroad) Rottweiler, and Matthew (Sherry) Rottweiler.  He was a devoted grandfather to five: Janelle (Heath) Simpson, Keesa (Louis) Flake, Devin (Sarah) Rottweiler, Greyson Rottweiler, and Emerson Rottweiler, and a proud great-grandfather of five more (Corbin, Carson, Kara, Paxton, and Remi).  He cherished every moment spent with his family and found joy in supporting them in all their pursuits.

After nearly two decades of facing Parkinson’s disease with courage and grace, Dean is now free from pain.  He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed, but we find peace in knowing he is reunited with loved ones and no longer suffering.

A life well lived, a man well loved-Dean leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and enduring love.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 5th at 11:00 a.m. at the Avenida Del Sol Building of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (1655 Avenida Del Sol, Sierra Vista, Arizona).
