Curtis DeHart Obituary

Curtis Anthony DeHart

October 18, 1956 – September 5, 2024

Curtis Anthony DeHart was born October 18, 1956 to Gervais and Margaret Louise DeHart in Houma Louisiana. Curtis was one of seven children. He grew up with his siblings and they were very close. Curtis never finished high school and started working as a general laborer then for offshore companies and soon found his passion in the automotive collision repair industry as a highly skilled paint and body repair technician to support his family. Curtis was a Roman Catholic and also a 3rd degree Knights of Columbus member of Council 1317 in Houma, LA.

When Curtis’ children grew and started with their lives, he decided in 2004 to pick up and move to Sierra Vista Az to be closer to his son during his military career. He later decided to Join his son and his wife in El Paso, TX in 2005 and then again back to Sierra Vista, Az in 2008. His love of adventure and fun eventually took him to Las Vegas Nevada in 2011. In 2014 Curtis decided to make Sierra Vista, Az his permanent home and to be closer to his son and daughter in-law and focus on spending his time with his grandchildren.

Curtis is preceded in death by his parents Gervais and Margaret DeHart, his brother Jimmy Daigle and his grandson Tristen Hills. He is survived by his Son Curtis A. DeHart II (Dorothy) of Sierra Vista, AZ, his daughter Kashmir DeHart of Houma, LA. His brothers Terry DeHarte (Diane) of McCall Creek, MS, Rudy Ledet (Marian) of Houma LA, Claude “Dave” DeHarte of Schriever, LA, Johnny Barrios (Gayle) of Houma, LA. His sister Nolia Carrere (Lynn) of Thibodaux, LA.

He leaves behind his grandchildren Maria N., Joseph Q., Lance H., Korde H., Angela D., and Kayliyah H. He also leaves behind his great grandson Richard B.

He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.

Curtis was someone who always thought of others before himself. He loved his brothers and sister very much and would make it a point to contact them frequently. His grandchildren were his life, he loved going to their functions, fieldtrips, taking them to carnivals, the park, movies and as they got older Rock Concerts. There was not a person this man did not meet that later did not become a friend. Those close friends became an extension of what he considered family.

Curtis was very outgoing and some would say he burned the brightest at functions with his humor and personality. He always knew how to have a good time and made sure others did as well. He was a great father to his children, a wonderful brother, and uncle. He was the best grandpa and Papi to his grandkids and great grandson. He was the one friend you always wanted in your life. He would stop everything to help the ones he loved. To say he will be missed is an understatement. He touched the lives of many and has left a permanent imprint on our hearts.
