Tillie Amarillas, 96, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on February 20, 2024.
Tillie was born in Bisbee, Arizona on December 29, 1927, to Rafael Parra and Matilda Anaya Parra. She was raised in Bisbee and graduated from Bisbee High School.
Tillie’s first job was at the telegraph office and then later she worked at DES and retired as a supervisor after 33 years. Tillie was devoted and loving wife, mother, nana, sister and aunt. Family was her main love in life.
She enjoyed every Christmas Eve making tamales and having all her children and grandchildren over for dinner. This was her tradition for her family even till this last Christmas Eve.
She was a member of St. Patrick Church where she was in the church choir and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.
Tillie was preceded in the death by her husband Pascual Amarillas, her son Steve Amarillas Sr., her parents, her siblings Mae Puzzi, Santos Mendoza, Bea Gonzales, Ralph Parra, Jr., and Dora Busch.
Tillie is survived by her children Arthur Amarillas, Michael Amarillas, Fred Amarillas (Colleen), Rosalie Acuna (Raul), Carlos Amarillas (Jody), Larry Amarillas (Lupe), 28 grandchildren, 48 great children, 11 great-great grandchildren, also numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday March 1, 2024, at St. Patrick Church Bisbee, AZ. Rosary at 10 a.m. followed by Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
A gathering of food and friendship will be held after Burial at St. Stephan’s Nemanja Serbian Hall.
