It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved father, Cassius Henry Matthews. Cassius was a retired U.S. Army veteran who served his country for 20 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle.
This November would have stamped 40 years of marriage to his wife Michele Matthews, with whom he raised 5 children. He was committed to raising his children to be the best they can be. He instilled in us many great qualities and was always there to motivate us. We will all miss his conversations, as he had a great “gift to gabble.” He loved to travel and see the country and enjoyed showcasing his culinary skills. We all remain devastated and in disbelief at his passing as it was so sudden and unexpected. He has left us too soon and we will all hold an empty spot in our hearts that only he can fill.
A viewing will be held for him Sunday, October 5, 2025 from 2-5pm. His funeral service, with military honors, will be the following Monday October 6, 2025 at 10am. Both services will be held at Hatfield Funeral Home: 830 AZ-92 Sierra Vista, AZ 85635.
