Carolyn Joan (Friend) Dean

 Our dear mother, Carolyn Dean, passed away in Sierra Vista, Arizona on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. She was born on August 13, 1934 in Ivydale, West Virginia, to Thurston and Mabel Friend. In 1967, her and her husband, Homer, moved with their family to Sierra Vista.

She was a wonderful, kind-hearted, amazing wife/mother/grandmother/sister/friend who was always there when you needed her. She enjoyed bowling, reading, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family. She also had many dear friends and was a well-loved member of the community.

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 67 years, Homer Dean of Sierra Vista, Arizona; son Jeff Dean of Sierra Vista, Arizona; daughter Cheryl Kennedy of Tucson, Arizona; daughter Sandi Dean of Simi Valley, California; grandson Bradley Kennedy of Tucson, Arizona; brother Von Friend (Nancy) of Smithfield, Virginia; sister Shelba Gillespie (Ronnie) of Sutton, West Virginia; sister Linda Mobley (Charles) of Crossville, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Thurston and Mabel Friend, sister Martha Long; and brother John Marion Friend.

She'll be in our hearts forever.

A private funeral service will be held at a later date.
