Buckie Roger Williams
February 1, 1942 - December 26, 2023
Buckie Roger Williams, 81, of Pennington, South Dakota, peacefully passed away in Tucson on December 26, 2023. Born in East Bernstadt, Kentucky on February 1, 1942, to Dorothy and Bob Williams, Buckie's journey was marked by dedication, service, and love. Buckie was a 1959 graduate of Hazel Green, Kentucky before embarking on a remarkable 24-year career in the United States Army, achieving the esteemed rank of First Sergeant. His commitment to duty was a source of pride and inspiration to all who served alongside him.
In 1964, Buckie married the love of his life, Else, and together they nurtured a family filled with love and laughter. Their union blessed them with two wonderful children, Roger, and Steven, who carry on his legacy with honor and reverence.
Beyond his military service, Buckie embraced life with a passion for competition shooting and golf. His skill and sportsmanship were evident in every endeavor, leaving an indelible mark on those who shared in these pursuits with him.
A proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Masonic Order, Buckie forged lasting connections with fellow servicemen and members of the community. His camaraderie and dedication to these organizations enriched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Buckie is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Else, his loving sons Roger, his finance Darelyn, and Steven, his wife Brandy, and his cherished grandchildren, Tyler, Ryle, Mason, Finley, and Easton. He leaves behind a tapestry of memories woven with the threads of family, friendship, and service. He is also survived by his siblings, Teddy, Jack, Patsy, Linda, Brenda, Donna, nieces, and nephews, who will continue to carry his spirit forward. Buckie was preceded in death by his parents, Bob, and Dorothy, as well as siblings Janice, Douglas, Barbara, Bobby, Wanda, and daughter-in-law Rebecca Williams.
As we bid farewell to a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, let us remember Buckie Roger Williams for the legacy of love, honor, and service he leaves behind. May his memory continue to inspire us to live our lives with the same dedication and passion that defined his remarkable journey.
