Berna (Martinez) Saenz

Berna Saenz passed away with her immediate family at her side on June 8, 2024. Born on May 20, 1940 in Naco, Sonora, Berna grew up in Superior, AZ and graduated from Superior High School in 1959. Berna was happily married to husband Richard Saenz for 63 years. She and Richard raised three sons, Arthur (deceased), Robert (Phoenix, Arizona), and Mario (Columbus, New Jersey). Berna and Richard have six grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her sister Nellie Martinez (Superior, Arizona), her niece Gloria Martinez, her brother Lorenzo Martinez (Apache Junction, Arizona), her sister Alice Campa (Phoenix, Arizona), and her sister Mary Ellen Arias (Santan Valley, Arizona).

Berna is survived by siblings Gilbert Martinez (Mesa, Arizona), Julia Alverado (Superior, Arizona), and Arnold Martinez (Payson, Arizona); Arthur’s wife Deanne Sobczak (Arlington, Virginia); son Robert Saenz; son Mario Saenz and wife Tanya Saenz; Grandchildren Andrew, Alex, Eric, Manuel, Gabriel, and Zachary Sanez. Great-Grandchildren Noah, Reid, and Rory Saenz.

Berna's kindness and devotion to family will always be remembered and cherished by her friends and family.
