Alice Yanez Martinez,87, of Bisbee, Arizona passed away in Benson, Arizona on Monday, August 17th, 2020.
Alice was born in Bisbee, AZ, to the late Jesus Martinez and Hortencia (Yanez) Martinez. She was born and raised in Bisbee AZ, along with 7 siblings. This was where she later became the owner and operator of El Zarape Cafe Restaurant with her late husband Joe (Sonny) for many years where she taught Sonny how to both run a restaurant and cook. She would always say she taught him how to cook and that he later was a better cook than her! Alice later in life discovered her artistic abilities and loved to use those artistic abilities creating canvas paintings, drawings, and making anything ceramic. She enjoyed giving her works of art away to family and friends. She also enjoyed driving Sonny crazy with her inability to sit down and relax. She loved her two children unconditionally. Alice also enjoyed watching her Soap Opera "Days of Our Lives" something she had done for 50 years she would say. She also enjoyed Dr. Oz and her Novelas at night. Alice also spoke of how she had a good life with Sonny traveling, visiting family, camping and running a business. Alice will be truly missed by her family, her children, her grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, her friends and people she met along her life's journey here on earth.
