On Monday, 30 September 2019, Edward A. Howden, loving father to five children, passed away at the age of 98. Edward was born on February 9, 1921 in Sacramento, CA.
He served in the US Army for 2 years, during WWII, at Okinawa and Korea. Edward started his 40-year career with the Southern Pacific Railroad as a Mechanic Apprentice and worked his way up to a Master Mechanic. He transferred several times, to various locations, with the Railroad. In 1981, he retired in Portland, OR as the Assistant Superintendent of the Oregon Line. He moved to Sierra Vista in December 2014.
Edward enjoyed traveling and loved his yearly Halibut and Salmon fishing trips to Alaska. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile and his many fishing stories. He had a kind and compassionate spirit.
Edward is survived by his five children Edward (Eddie) and his wife Dyanne Howden of Reno, NV; Cheryl (Sherry) Vielle of Frisco, TX; Catherine (Cathy) Howden of Fallon, NV; John and his wife Wyn Howden of Payson UT; and Lloyd and his wife Jean Howden of Sierra Vista, AZ. He had 19 Grandchildren, 29 Great Grandchildren, 4 Great-Great Grandchildren and many more extended family members. Funeral services will be held on October 9th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on 1655 S Avenida del Sol at 10 o’clock am.
