Bettie Jean Taylor Brust
Bettie Jean Brust, 82, of Hereford, Arizona passed away Friday, November 22, 2019 at Canyon Vista Medical Center in Sierra Vista, Arizona. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Bettie was born at the family ranch house in Wheaton, Missouri on June 17, 1937 to Orba and Wetona Taylor. She was baptized into Christ at an early age. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother and was a kind and compassionate person to everyone in her life. She will be sorely missed but never forgotten as she made an impressionable impact on both her family and friends.
Bettie had many hobbies but her favorite was gardening and reading good books. In her early years of marriage, Bettie enjoyed sewing and the most memorable moments were when she made clothes for her daughters Barbie dolls.
Bettie leaves behind her loving and devoted husband, Carroll (Gene) Brust of 64 years. They were married on September 2, 1955 at the Church of Christ in Rocky Comfort, Missouri and honeymooned in Colorado Springs, CO. She faithfully supported her husband in his educational endeavors while raising their children and maintaining their home. She has travelled the world with her husband visiting countries like South Africa, France, New Zealand, Australia, Italy, Spain, Finland, Chili and many more.
Bettie is also survived by her remaining three children. Debra Brust Barnett, 63, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Richard Brust, 61, of Hereford, Arizona and William Brust, 51. She is also survived by her five grandchildren – Michelle Hollandsworth of Coweta, OK, Carlos Amarillos of Sierria Vista, AZ, Tracy Diaz of San Antonio, TX, Kevin Barnett of Broken Arrow, OK and Ashley Johnston of Phoenix, AZ. She was also blessed with seven great grandchildren. Bettie was preceded in death by her daughter, Tamra Brust Johnston, her sister Evalynn Harvey, brother James Taylor and her parents Orba and Wetona Taylor.
A viewing will be held on Monday, December 2, 2019 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Village Meadows Church of Christ, 815 El Camino Real in Sierra Vista. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Officiating will be performed by Bettie’s brother-in-law, Lynn Brust of Kokomo, IN. Interment will follow at Cochise Memory Gardens Cemetery, 5590 Charleston Road in Sierra Vista.
