Naomi Cartwright Obituary

Naomi Ann Cartwright
August 28, 1932 - April 14, 2024

This is to notify the friends and relatives of Naomi Ann Cartwright, 91, that she is not lost or missing, but has moved to a new address. On April 14, 2024, Naomi moved from 11th Avenue, Lakewood, CO to the corner of Grace Boulevard and Mercy Avenue, in Heaven. You may keep in touch with her though John 14:3 where she will be waiting to greet you at Heaven's Gate.

She was born August 28, 1932 in Peoria, IL to Robert Earl Ralph Ogden and Marie (Steffan) Ogden. Naomi graduated from Manual Training High School in Peoria in 1950, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She then attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL and graduated in 1953. Naomi met the love of her life, Kenneth E. Cartwright while at Moody and they were married on June 14, 1953 in Peoria, IL and their marriage lasted 67 years. They had two wonderful sons, David E. (Dixie) of Matheson, CO, and Peter R. (Gail) of Denver, CO. They also had seven beloved grandchildren that were precious to her and that she treasured greatly, (then they had some grandchildren-in-law that she loved dearly and that were so special to her). Seven great-grandchildren came along that were her pride and joy and were dear to her heart.

Shortly after Ken and Naomi were married they moved to Denver, CO. She got a job at Tammen Company painting pillow tops (like the soldiers brought home as souvenirs). She made 33 cents and hour, Ken was in Bible School and worked part time, and can you believe it, they never did go hungry! Surely, God was faithful ever day. Over the years her job description expanded: 1.) Customer service at Public Service Company. 2.) Children's day care. Ken and Naomi owned and operated a day care center called Tot College. 3.) Children of Young People's ministries at several churches. Pioneer Girls was one of her ministries. The Pioneer Girls gave her the nickname "Kitty" which she was known as for the rest of her life. She also taught Sunday school, directed vacation bible schools, led children church services, wrote Sunday school materials, etc. 4.) Radio, she had a five day a week radio program for children which was called Kitty's Cottage. And to top it off, 5.) she had the privilege of helping raise four of her grandchildren. Naomi loved children and spent most of her life working with and enjoying them greatly.

Not to awfully long ago Naomi's grandchildren ask her what she would like to be remembered for. After thinking awhile, she said she would like, not deserve (especially by her grandchildren) to be remembered for showing the character of God in her life. Showing love, love for God, love for God's Word, love for Grandpa Ken, love for family and others. She would like them to have seen integrity in her life, and kindness, goodness, gentleness, gratefulness, and so many other characteristics. But, when it came down to it, she would like for them to have been able to see Christ in her life.
