Renalda Marie Hires, also known to her friends as “Rae” or “Renee”, was born in Gallup, New Mexico, on February 27, 1953, and died on May 27, 2019, at the age of 66. She passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tucson, with her daughters Victoria Iglesias-Romo and Michelle Oliva, brother Richard Landavazo, sister Phyllis Pullen, grandchildren Isabella, Sophia, and Ava Oliva, and cousin Adrian Landavazo by her side.

Renalda was a child of the US Army, with her parents, grandparents, several siblings, and extended family all service members. Renalda’s life exemplified service, both at Ft. Huachuca as an Army contractor and as the primary caregiver for her mother, and it is very fitting that she went home to be with the Lord on Memorial Day. Renalda was a collector of native memorabilia, had wide and eclectic musical tastes, enjoyed traveling, and was a talented gardener. As a former Army wife, she lived in Seoul, Korea, and enjoyed a lifelong love affair with Asian food.
Renalda is known for her exceptional organizational skills, work ethic, loyalty, and devotion to her mother, Benita Perez (Gonzales) of Sierra Vista, Arizona, who is surviving. Renalda is also known for her joyful, playful spirit; style, sense of adventure, affectionate nature, and highly responsible and dependable character. Finally, Renalda was an avid reader and lifelong learner, taking career development and academic coursework later in life.
“Baby Rae” was deeply loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass and celebration of life memorial service for Renalda on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at her home parish of St. Andrew the Apostle, 800 Taylor Drive, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635.
The mass will be held at 12:00pm and the reception will begin at 4pm, both at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church.

My sincere condolences go to the family at this trying time. There is a Bible passage that comforts me greatly. Jesus promised he will resurrect our loved ones. John 5: 28 and 29. When earth becomes the place of peace Jesus talked about at Matthew 5:5, then we will live the promise of everlasting peace. Psalm 37:29. We have a promise from God at Revelation 21:3,4. There will be no more death and pain. There is more comfort to be read about in God's Word, the Bible concerning the resurrection and reuniting with our loved ones. May God’s peace be yours. Isaiah 26:4.

Please accept my sincere condolences to the family. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Renalda. The Bible assures us at Psalms 34:18 that God is near to those broken in heart. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. May your many memories help you find peace and comfort as you go through the coming days.
