Mamie Sue Fuqua
July 6, 1937 - May 7, 2019

Mamie Sue (Hemmitt) Fuqua, 81 of Huachuca City passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at her home. Sue, daughter of the late John and Mamie (Burrough) Hemmitt was born in Thornton, Arkansas on July 6, 1937. She was raised in Thornton and graduated from Thornton High School.

Sue worked in Civil Service for many years on Fort Huachuca. She has resided in Huachuca City for almost 50 years. She loved cooking and socializing, enjoyed spending time with her great-grandkids and had a wonderful smile that could light up a room.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Lonnie C. Fuqua; her daughter, Carol Melendez; and her beloved brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Nicole L. Cromeans (James); her great grandchildren, Gabriel, Zoe, and Jackson; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services for Sue will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hatfield Funeral Home, 830 South Highway 92, Sierra Vista. Rites of Committal will follow in the Chapel of the Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1300 Buffalo Soldiers Trail, Sierra Vista. A visiting hour will precede her service on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 10:30 a.m.
