SIERRA VISTA - Nathan Thomas Kerr, 38, of Sierra Vista passed away in Tucson, Arizona on Friday, April 5, 2019 following an unexpected period of heart-related illness.  Nathan, son of Stephen W. and Nendy A. (Newton) Kerr was born in Naperville, Illinois on September 13, 1980. He is a graduate of Buena High School and received Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science degrees from Arizona State University.  His studies included communications, journalism, and computer science.

Nathan served a two-year mission in Hong Kong for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints providing him the opportunity to learn to converse in Cantonese.  He later lived in Kaiserslautern Germany while pursuing an advanced degree in computer science and became conversant in the German language.  He returned home to Sierra Vista in early 2018 allowing family members the blessing to become reacquainted.

In addition to his parents, Nathan is survived by his brothers, Jason A. Kerr (Kristine) and Derek J. Kerr (Kristi); his sisters, Megan Whitney (Matthias) and Kathleen Frisina (Sterling); his maternal grandmother, LeAnn C. Newton; and eleven nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 12, 2019 at 10:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1000 Taylor Drive Sierra Vista.  Dedication of grave and Interment will follow in Cochise Memory Gardens, Charleston Road, Sierra Vista.  

Nathan’s family will receive family and friends in the Relief Society Room from 9:00 to 9:40 am followed by Family Prayer from 9:40 to 9:50 am. Hatfield Funeral Home, Sierra Vista is entrusted with the arrangements.
