Susan Ann Finnegan
May 5, 2019 - March 24, 219

Susan Ann Finnegan, 73, of Sierra Vista, Arizona, passed away in Tucson, Arizona on Sunday, March 24, 2019.

Susan was born in Williston Park, New York, to Edward and Mary Helmich and was the oldest of four children. Her brothers, Billy, Jack, and Pete, adored her. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1963. It was during her high school years that she first met and began dating her future husband, Thomas.

Susan married Thomas Finnegan on October 29, 1966 in Williston Park, New York. Susan and Thomas went on to have six children whilst traveling the world and living the US Army life. After Thomas’s retirement from the Army in 1993, Susan and he settled down in Sierra Vista where she could focus on being the best grandmother (“Nan”) to 16 grandchildren.

Susan always enjoyed the warmth of the sun on her face, whether she was on the beach on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii, or her back patio staring at the Huachuca Mountains. She was never far from a good book.

She is preceded in death by her brothers, Pete and Billy, whom she is surely laughing with now.

Susan is survived by her loving husband, Thomas; her brother, Jack; her Sisters-in-Law, Julie Helmich and Loretta Helmich; her six children, Kelley (Mitch) Wooldridge, Patrick (Reggie) Finnegan, Timothy (Jaime) Finnegan, Kathleen (Javier) Sariñana, Matthew (Holly) Finnegan, Maureen (James) Tolley; and her 16 grandchildren, Riley, Hannah, Ian, Samantha, Evan, Nicolas, Grace, Michelle, Natalie, Megan, Audra, Cailin, Aiden, Ava, Claire, and Adeline.

A Rosary/Prayer Vigil will be recited at 6 PM and a time of visitation will be held from 6:30 PM until 9 PM at Hatfield Funeral Home on Sunday, March 31, 2019. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Main Post Chapel — Ft. Huachuca, AZ on Monday, April 1, 2019 at 9 AM.
Interment will follow at the Southern Arizona Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery at 11 AM on Monday, April 1, 2019.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Susan’s honor to the American Cancer Society.
