Donald G. Kyte
February 21, 1936 – February 24, 2019

Donald George Kyte was called to heaven on February 24, 2019 where he was reunited with his beloved wife, Janet and daughter, Donna.

Don was born February 21, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan. He is survived by his sons, Gary (Lisa) and Mark (LaChelle), and four grandsons, Bryan (Jessi), Matt (Faith), Ethan, and Spencer. He is also survived by his sister, Jean MacDuff of Port Huron, Michigan and three sisters-in-law; Loretta Kish and Harriet Angerbrandt of Port Huron, Michigan and Betty Kyte of Zephyrhills, Florida.

Don was a graduate of Port Huron High School in Port Huron, Michigan. He married Janet Howell on December 26, 1955 and moved to Ft. Huachuca in 1962. He remained a resident of this area until his passing. Don retired from the Army in 1975 after more than twenty years of service. His post-military career was with the Cochise County Sheriff’s Department where he retired in 1993.

Don was actively involved in Special Olympics where he and Janet served as both coaches and enthusiastic supporters of Donna and her teammates. He also volunteered at the Sierra Vista Police Department and served on the board of directors at SSVEC for over twenty years. Don was a member of the Elks and an avid bowler. He loved traveling in his motor home and going on numerous cruises with his family and friends. Don’s loving bond with his family was unsurpassed, especially the one he shared with his wife, Janet. He treasured his friendships with Yolonda and Charles Collins, Dee and Tom Whipp, Charles and Susanne Hazelett, the Hitchins family, Anne Sandidge, and many others near and dear to his heart. All who knew and loved him will miss his kindness and sense of humor.

A memorial service will be held on March 9, 2019 at noon at Hatfield’s Funeral Home. Private interment will be at a later time. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in Don’s name.
