Alvin Bishop Taylor, 89

SIERRA VISTA — Alvin Bishop Taylor passed away Wednesday January 23, 2019 at the University of Arizona Tucson Medical Center. He had been a resident of Sierra Vista for 65 years. Alvin was born in 1929, son of the late Willie Taylor and Doris Price-Taylor of Jackson, Tennessee.

Alvin retired in 1989 as a Hospital Officer with the US Army Health Services Command, ending his career with the US Department of the Army. He was united in marriage for 53 years to Mae Frances Taylor of Jackson, Tennessee, whom he had known since childhood. Mae preceded him in death in 2006.

Alvin had a zeal for an active life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, sports, gardening and most of all, tending his roses.

Alvin is survived by Ernest (Cendie) Randolph of Phoenix, Arizona, whom he and Mae loved as their own son; nieces, Carolyn (Pete) Wilkins of Sierra Vista, Wilma Hampton, Linda (Wendell) Leonard, Dora (Randolph) Hale; nephew,  Willie (Jerri) Taylor, Jr; and a host of family and friends who love and will miss him dearly.

The time of visitation is from 4:00 to 7:00pm Thursday, January 31, 2019 at the Hatfield Memorial Funeral Home, 830 S. Hwy 92 Sierra Vista, Arizona. Rites of Committal with Military Honors will be at 11:00 am in the Chapel on Friday, February 1, 2019, at the Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1300 Buffalo Soldiers Trail, Sierra Vista, Arizona.
