He married Linda Lee Bingham on March 28, 1964, in the Mesa temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They are the parents of five children and celebrated their 50th anniversary last year surrounded by family. Eldon was a lifelong and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a missionary in the Eastern Atlantic States Mission from 1961-1963 and a bishop in Sierra Vista from 2001-2006, among other church callings. Eldon worked at various trucking companies in the west and often entertained family and friends with stories from his days on the road. He also did some ranching and farming. Eldon and Linda raised their family in various parts of Arizona, Texas, and Utah, but returned to Arizona in 1986 and settled in Sierra Vista. Eldon retired as a driver for AmeriGas in 2013 after the discovery of cancer.

Eldon is survived by his wife, Linda; three sons, Mark, Boyd (Julie) of Sierra Vista, and Chad (Kirstie) Thompson of Gilbert, Ariz.; two daughters, Stephanie Shindler and Jennifer (Travis) Brobst of Sierra Vista; and 18 grandchildren, Stephen, Brooke, Jacob, Dallin, Caleb, Brandon, Brayden, Brianne, Kiev, Danielle, Hailee, Elizabeth, Alexander, Emma, Tanner, Gwenevere, Tyler, and Adam. He is also survived by brothers Dan (Kathy) of Mesa and Roy (Vickie) Thompson of Morgan, Utah; and sisters Marla (Ron) Nelson of Florence and Malene (Russ) Mendenhall of Tucson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Elaine who died in childhood, and a stillborn grandchild, Joseph.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Hatfield Funeral Home in Sierra Vista. Burial will be at the Whitewater Cemetery, in Elfrida, Ariz., in a private family service. A public memorial for extended family and friends will be held Saturday Jan. 31 at 10 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1655 Avenida Del Sol, Sierra Vista.
